Several of our KP staff have been touched personally by the destruction left in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, and all of our staff are teaming up to help. Recently, Medical Assistant Mauri, who has family in Houston, organized a donation drive and sent off a car load of donations supplied by KP doctors, nurses and staff.
Now Dr. McKinnon, who grew up in Houston, is returning to visit family affected by the storm. And she’ll also carry with her one very special suitcase loaded with items for Star of Hope.
Star of Hope is a organization dedicated to helping Houston’s homeless families. They provide health services, counseling, employment assistance and more – and now they are serving those displaced by the storm as well. Dr. McKinnon has a very special connection with Star of Hope: she volunteered there in high school and while in medical school and now will be giving back once again.
Over the next two days we’ll be filling the suitcase with the items most urgently needed by the men, women and children at Star of Hope. It’s a real team effort here – Nurse Practitioner Traci brought in the giant suitcase and all our nurses, doctors and staff are bringing in items to fill it. We’d love for our extended KP family to join us as well. If you can bring by any of the items below before Friday at 4 pm, we’ll gladly add them to the case. Just bring items to any front desk.
Thank you!
