Feeding your baby is one of the first things you do as a parent – and one of the ways you and your baby spend much of your time together. So it’s only natural that many parents have questions – How often should he eat? How much? Am I getting this position right? How can my partner and family participate?
Kennesaw Pediatrics Breastfeeding Center offers comprehensive lactation services; the support, education and clinical expertise parents need to feed their babies with confidence. Our Board Certified Lactation Consultants are trained and experienced with a variety of feeding methods and special situations, and approach every situation with respect for the needs and goals of each unique family.
In Office Consultations
Whether you are experiencing a specific challenge or just want to ask all your questions, a consultation can be just what you need. In the comfort and privacy of our relaxing feeding consultation room, our consultant will conduct a full feeding assessment – including weighing your baby, taking a feeding history, observing and helping you with a feeding, and creating a plan to address any issues that you are experiencing.
Consultations are personalized for each situation. Common issues addressed include: how to read baby’s feeding cues, how often to feed, comfortable positioning for mom and baby, latching to breast or bottle, paced bottle feeding techniques, burping, pumping, building supply and much, much more.
In Office Consultations also include a brief visit with your pediatrician to review the feeding plan together.
Who should have a consultation?
Every new mom, whether breast or bottle feeding, can benefit from a lactation consultation. Our lactation consultants are feeding specialists with tremendous knowledge of a variety of feeding methods who recognize the importance of judgment free support for all moms. Any mom who is experiencing feeding challenges such as pain with feeding, difficulty latching or positioning baby, slow weight gain in baby, difficulty establishing a routine or other issues will benefit from a consultation. Many moms also have a consultation as a “feeding check up” just to make sure everything is going well and to have a chance to get answers to all their feeding questions.
Breastfeeding Hotline
Questions come up all the time when you have a little one and our Lactation Consultants are also available to help established patients over the phone. Calls are returned the same or next business day and are intended for non-urgent situations. Whether you’re dealing with questions of pumping, introducing solids, teething or more, we’re here to help!

There’s nothing like getting support and information from other moms. KP’s Breastfeeding Moms Group is a time to meet with other moms, ask questions, share joys and challenges, hear other’s solutions and experiences and offer your own to other moms.
Facilitated by one of our Board Certified Lactation Consultants, this group is free and open to any mom, pregnant or breastfeeding. The group meets in the Well Waiting Room of the Main Office. Breastfeeding babies are also welcome, of course!
