Dr. Maria Axelrod was born and raised in Port Chester, NY. She attended Fordham University followed by medical school at SUNY Upstate. She completed her residency training at the University of Rochester where she served as an Ambulatory Chief Resident.
The prospect of leaving behind snowy winters and being closer to family prompted her move to Atlanta. Her special areas of interest include management of asthma, obesity and psychosocial conditions. Dr. Axelrod is also fluent in Spanish.
Outside the office Dr. Axelrod loves to spend time outdoors with her husband and daughter. She also enjoys reading a good book and trying out new restaurants.
