Kennesaw Pediatrics believes in being a part of the community. We have been
doing this since our doors opened in 2003 and remain actively involved today. Our particiation allows us to interact with our current KP families and meet other families, too. It is also another way for us to give back to our own community. In addition to providing family fun, most of the organizations hosting these events are donating the proceeds to charitable organizations.

Kennesaw Pediatrics participates in numerous family events throughout the year,
including festivals, city events and educational presentations.

These Events Include:

  •  Big Shanty Festival
  •  Pigs & Peaches Festival
  •  Kennesaw Outdoor Movie Series
  •  Kennesaw Egg Scramble
  •  Smoke on the Lake BBQ
  • Acworth Love the Lake Concerts

ABOUT REACH OUT
Reach out is a community based organization in Kenya. It provides for the basic needs of the many orphaned children in the city of Kochieng. Kennesaw Pediatrics is sponsoring one of these orphaned families and the Health Clinic. Our sponsorship provides the family with food, safe drinking water, school  uniforms, mosquito netting and access to the health clinic.

HOW KENNESAW PEDIATRICS GOT INVOLVED WITH REACH OUT

A letter from Dr. Mark Long

Travel and adventure have long been a passion for Dr. Long.  Since graduating medical school he has visited several continents. Each trip has helped him to better understand the wonder and the diversity of cultures and their people, and how geography changes the way children are raised, how they grow, how they learn, and how they mature.

For example, in China toddlers do not wear diapers because parents are too poor for such luxuries. Instead the pants of the children’s clothes are split much like the crack of a babies bottom; yet the clothing is usually not soiled as one might expect.

While in Africa, Dr. Long heard firsthand about the turmoil and devastation causing needless suffering among the children.  Later, he was fortunate enough to cross paths with a member of the board of directors of the Atlanta based charity Reach-Out.  After learning about the details of the Reach Out Program, Dr. Long realized that this was the charitable organization Kennesaw Pediatrics was looking for. It offered a way to sponsor a pediatric medical clinic and individual children; a way to help others understand how truly fortunate we are to live and raise our kids in an environment most children only dream about; a way to give our KP children the opportunity to connect personally with a real child living in real conditions.

These children are being helped immensely by a small amount of money by US standards (less than $30 a month).  To these children, $30 a month truly can mean the difference between life and death.
Kennesaw Pediatrics is dedicated to the health of children both here and around the world.
