I am not sure if my child needs to see the doctor or not. What should I do?
This is when our online Medical Library can be very helpful. If you are a first time user it is very important to read the 'New User' Section. The first purpose of these topics, is to help you determine how sick your child is and if you need to call your child's doctor. The second purpose is to help you treat your child at home when it is safe to do so. Your doctor's advice and your good judgment should always take precedence over information in these topics. If ever in doubt, call the office to make an appointment. The medical library is divided into several Categories: Is Your Child Sick, General Medical Topics, Immunization Schedules and Parenting Tips (click here to visit library)

What do I need to do to get insurance coverage for my newborn baby?

You must call your employer immediately upon the birth of your child to begin the registration process. If this is not done ASAP, you may get billed for your first few visits with us.  The employer  will most likely request paperwork be filled out and submitted to them. In addition, you will need to contact the insurance carrier to add your child to your insurance plan. If your insurance carrier gets your information incorrectly, you may also get billed for your first few visits with us, so make sure they have it right (i.e. have them repeat everything to you). Be sure to tell them who his/her pediatrician will be-either Dr. Mark Long or Kennesaw Pediatrics.  Verify that your insurance selects the location at 3745 Cherokee Street. Suite #401, Kennesaw, Ga 30144.

What do I need to get insurance coverage for my child if I am transferring his/her care to you?
Contact your insurance carrier and change your child’s pediatrician to Dr. Mark Long or Kennesaw Pediatrics and verify that the insurance selects the location at 3745 Cherokee Street, Suite #401, Kennesaw, GA 30144.

When should I start to make appointments for routine physicals for my school-aged child?
Once your child reaches the age of three, most insurance plans will cover only one physical a year. Some insurance companies only cover physicals once every two or three years. Many insurance plans will only cover your physical if it has been at least one full year since your last physical. Therefore, be sure to check with your insurance company before you schedule an appointment. Always confirm coverage. That way you will not be charged for a visit because you did not know it was not covered.

What is the policy for co-payments?
Co-payments are due when you check in for your appointment. If you do not pay  at that time, you will be charged an extra $25 billing fee on top of your regular co-payment. We take cash, check or credit cards. Please check with your insurance carrier to find out the cost of your co-pay.

PRESCRIPTIONS
Prescription refills may be made 24 hours a day via the Kennesaw Pediatrics Website  or anytime during business hours, Monday through Friday.  Whenever possible, please request refills online or when you are in the office. Please allow 48 hours for prescription refills or forms to be completed.

REFERRALS
Patients who are a member of an HMO or PPO must get approval from their primary care physician before seeing a specialist. An advanced notice of 72 hours is required for approval, except for emergency room visits. If you are a new patient and have never been seen in our office, you must schedule an appointment with us and be seen by one of our physicians before a referral can be made.
